Privacy Policy

Last updated: December 25, 2025

Overview

CronSignal ("we", "our", or "us") is a cron job monitoring service. We take your privacy seriously and are committed to protecting your personal data. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Data We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address. This is used for authentication, sending alerts, and important service communications.

Check Data

We store information about your monitoring checks, including check names, schedules, ping history, and alert configurations. This data is essential to provide the monitoring service.

Ping Data

When your cron jobs ping our service, we log the timestamp, IP address, and any optional metadata you send (such as exit codes or duration). We do not inspect or store request bodies beyond what you explicitly send.

Usage Analytics

We use privacy-friendly analytics (Umami) to understand how visitors use our website. This data is aggregated and does not track individual users across sites.

We also use PostHog for product analytics, hosted in the EU (eu.i.posthog.com). PostHog helps us see which pages and product features actually help. It may collect page views, in-app interactions (clicks and navigation within the dashboard), approximate location derived from IP (the IP itself is not stored), and device/browser information. On our marketing pages it is limited to page views only; in the app it captures product interactions. PostHog is consent-gated, see our Cookie Notice for the consent model and how to opt in or out.

How We Use Your Data

  • To provide and maintain the monitoring service
  • To send alert notifications when your checks fail or recover
  • To send important service updates and security notices
  • To process payments (handled securely by Stripe)
  • To improve our service based on aggregated usage patterns

Data Sharing

We do not sell your data. We only share data with third parties when necessary to provide our service:

  • Stripe, for payment processing
  • Email provider, for sending transactional emails and alerts
  • Cloudflare, for hosting and CDN services
  • PostHog, product analytics, EU-hosted (consent-gated; see Cookie Notice)

Data Retention

We retain your account data and check configurations for as long as your account is active. Ping history is retained for 90 days on the free plan and 1 year on paid plans. When you delete your account, all associated data is permanently deleted within 30 days.

Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, secure authentication, and regular security reviews. Our infrastructure is hosted on Cloudflare's global network.

Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your data:

  • Access, Request a copy of your data
  • Correction, Correct inaccurate data
  • Deletion, Request deletion of your account and data
  • Export, Download your data in a standard format

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected].

Cookies

We use an essential cookie for authentication and session management. We also set a small number of product-analytics cookies (PostHog), but only after you consent. If you are in the EU, EEA, UK, or Switzerland, no PostHog cookies are set and no behavioral data is collected unless you accept via our consent banner (opt-in). Everywhere else, analytics are on by default and you can opt out at any time from the notice shown on your first visit. We don't use third-party advertising cookies and we don't sell your data. Our website traffic analytics (Umami) remain cookie-free. See our Cookie Notice for the full list and your choices.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or by posting a notice on our website.
