Cron JST to UTC

Convert cron job schedules from JST to UTC timezone.

Timezone Offset

-9 hours

JST (UTC+9) → UTC (UTC+0)

Conversion Examples

To run a job at a specific JST time, use the UTC expression below:

Target time (JST) Cron in UTC Equivalent UTC time
Midnight JST0 15 * * *3 PM (previous day)
9 AM JST0 0 * * *Midnight
Noon JST0 3 * * *3 AM
5 PM JST0 8 * * *8 AM

How to Use

If your server runs in UTC but you want jobs to execute at JST times:

  1. Take your desired JST hour
  2. Subtract 9 hours
  3. If result is negative, add 24 (job runs previous day)
  4. If result is 24 or more, subtract 24 (job runs next day)

Important Notes

  • Standard cron has no timezone support - it uses the server's local time
  • Day boundaries: When converting crosses midnight, the day also changes
  • DST: Consider daylight saving time - offsets may change by 1 hour seasonally
  • Kubernetes & cloud platforms: Many support explicit timezone configuration
