All Timezone Conversions
Cron IST to UTC
Convert cron job schedules from IST to UTC timezone.
Timezone Offset
-5.5 hours
IST (UTC+5.5) → UTC (UTC+0)
Conversion Examples
To run a job at a specific IST time, use the UTC expression below:
| Target time (IST) | Cron in UTC | Equivalent UTC time |
|---|---|---|
| Midnight IST | 0 18.5 * * * | 6.5 PM (previous day) |
| 9 AM IST | 0 3.5 * * * | 3.5 AM |
| Noon IST | 0 6.5 * * * | 6.5 AM |
| 5 PM IST | 0 11.5 * * * | 11.5 AM |
How to Use
If your server runs in UTC but you want jobs to execute at IST times:
- Take your desired IST hour
- Subtract 5.5 hours
- If result is negative, add 24 (job runs previous day)
- If result is 24 or more, subtract 24 (job runs next day)

Important Notes
- Standard cron has no timezone support - it uses the server's local time
- Day boundaries: When converting crosses midnight, the day also changes
- DST: Consider daylight saving time - offsets may change by 1 hour seasonally
- Kubernetes & cloud platforms: Many support explicit timezone configuration
